About Me
Hi, my name is Ian and I'm a very passionate wedding and portrait
photographer based in Johannesburg, South Africa. I absolutely love photography
and wouldn't change it for the world!
I have an immense passion for creativity. I studied and completed my photographic
courses at the College of Digital Photography in Johannesburg, specializing in Weddings
and People Photography. I also studied and am equally as passionate about Wild Life,
Landscape, Fine Arts, Travel and Sports photography.
Style:
My approach is inspired by photojournalistic trends - capturing
real moments in real time. I also have a fashionable, modern, relaxed, yet natural
approach to my photography and believe in capturing the most significant details
that tell the story of your 'once in a lifetime' experience. My true photographic
style that I have perfected is what I call "eclectic". This means that
I can and will adapt to whatever the surroundings; venue, people, colour and lighting
of your wedding in order to produce the best images. No boundaries and no frontiers!
Technical Approach to Wedding Photography:
I do not use flash 80% of the time (unless you are getting married
at night); I create stunning images using the latest technology - Nikon camera's
combined with fast lenses with extremely low apertures. This allows me to shoot
with as much ambient light as possible in most of the stages of the wedding producing
softly lit images rather than harsh flash-lit images. I do at times add off camera
flash and I also use reflectors to reflect natural light onto the subject. This
way I get far better and intended results. Additionally, I make use of a specially
designed imported wedding light from the US. This allows me to photograph couples
with stunning colourful backgrounds long after the sun has set that not many other
artificial lighting apparatuses will allow.
